If you have someone incarcerated in Oregon, knowing how to look them up will help you locate them from the prison centers. Whether they are violent and repeat offenders on death row or in the West Unit, you will find them in the state prison system.

One way to search is using the Oregon Offender locator that allows interested parties to search for inmates using their DOC number and name. However, you must agree to their disclaimer message before you gain access to the inmate information.

If you don’t have a full name of an inmate, you can use a partial name and accompany it with an asterisk to signify unknown parts of the name. The system will display a list of names that closely match the partial name and photographs to help narrow the inmate search in the state. Some additional information displayed includes the release date, status, current location, mugshot, and details of each conviction. If the website doesn’t yield the expected results, you can also contact the Oregon DOC for further assistance.

If an inmate is incarcerated at any county jail in Oregon, find out the exact county they were booked. This will allow you to check the online inmate roster on the sheriff’s website. If the inmate you are interested in is incarcerated at the Oregon state penitentiary, the best way to locate them is to visit their website or call the state prison for information.

The Oregon DOC oversees the day-to-day operations in the State correctional and detention facilities. It runs a prison system made up of 14 prison centers which include a state prison, correctional institutions, and a work camp. The state prisons house inmates at different custody levels. After identifying and classifying each inmate's programming and security needs, the DOC then houses the inmates in minimum, medium, or maximum facilities.

On average, the Oregon DOC is responsible for about 14,000 inmates confined at state prison facilities, while 30,000 others are housed in community corrections. There are 36 county jails spread across the state which are home to 6000 offenders while approximately 1700 inmates reside in federal prisons. Several Oregon jails detain short-term inmates and offenders waiting for trial. Usually, these short-term county jails are run by local law enforcement agencies like local police and the sheriff’s office.
