The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) oversees all inmates in Florida correctional facilities. The State maintains an inmate database that contains all information on parolees, inmates, and probationers. Moreover, the department runs a Florida offender locator system that allows the public to search and access all inmate information.

This system makes it easier for you to locate an inmate in the state. Here is how.

Florida Inmate Search

The Florida inmate search is an inmate search tool that allows you to access inmate records within the state database. Florida residents can use this offender locator system to locate inmates in any correctional facility. To do it, open the FDC website and head to the inmate search page.

You will be required to enter the first and last name of the inmate you intend to locate in the search field. Alternatively, you can conduct the search using the inmate ID. You will receive results immediately with relevant details such as their current location and incarceration status.

You can click on their profile if you want more information on the inmate. This step will take you to that inmate's records kept by the correctional facility, where you can view information such as charges, sentence period, projected release date, and more.

Alternatively, you can use VINElink to locate an inmate in Florida. This is a nationally automated notification system that allows victims and interested persons to access and track an offender's custody status. With an inmate's name and offender ID number, VINElink will notify you every time their status changes, whether they are moved, released on parole, or more.

Privately run systems and databases are also practical tools for locating an inmate. These systems work the same as the Florida offender lookup tool, allowing you to access inmate records using their name and/or ID number.

Florida Detention Centers

If your inmate is a minor or has not received their sentence, they might be held in a detention center or jail. In such cases, you can locate an inmate by reaching out to the center or viewing their record on their website.

There are numerous detention centers and institutions in Florida, partially run by the Florida Sheriff's Association. The facilities are divided into juvenile commitment programs, adult jails, and probation offices.

The Florida Sherief's Association website lists these facilities where you can get their contacts. Moreover, the website has links that will take you to the official websites of each facility, from where you can access all inmate records.
